Come Fly With Us

This week, we launched Flyby in the Bike Streets App. It’s a feature we’ve always dreamed of because it makes it possible to see what a bike route is going to be like before you ride.

One of the main Bike Streets hypotheses is that if folks know they can find a comfortable bike route to any destination in Denver, they’ll be more likely to hop on their bikes and replace car trips with bike trips.

This is one of the main reasons we lead so many group bike rides all over town. There’s nothing quite like the tactile experience of seeing what the routes are like and feeling empowered to go anywhere on a bike.

Ride the Vote on November 3rd, for example, included a stop at the ballot drop box at the Botanic Gardens, a stop at Casimir Pulaski Park to honor a hero of the American Revolution (did you know he saved George Washington's life at the Battle of the Brandywine?), and a slow roll back to Crestmoor Park.

Flyby is the virtual version: it shows you how possible it is to go places in Denver. And with Flyby, you can preview an endless number of routes and see the trails, protected bike lanes, and quiet streets they’ll be on. For example, here’s to how navigate the Capitol.

You can see the streets you’ll have to cross, where there are signals and where there aren’t, where Bike Streets recommends walking your bike on the sidewalk for a block, and where there are unique features like the pedestrian bridge over the train tracks at York and 47th.

We hope you’ll join the next Surprise Adventure on 12/1 for an on-the-ground, what-it’s-like experience with us and, when we’re not together in-person, use Flyby to scout new routes.
